EDUC 5030 Theoretical Frameworks of Curriculum and Instruction

This course provides a survey of the theoretical underpinnings of curriculum and instruction. Graduate students will expand their prior knowledge and examine important theories, instructional models, and conceptual frameworks that have served as guides for educational policy, classroom instruction, and student learning throughout the history of American education. Theories studied will include constructivism, cognitive learning theory, behaviorism, humanism, connectivism, experiential learning, theory of multiple intelligences, and others. Graduate students will complete a Classroom Application in a Video Simulation highlighting each of the theories. The Georgia K-12 English Language Arts (ELA) Standards will be utilized.
