How Your Financial Aid is Determined

A student’s financial need must be calculated before a financial aid package can be created. Each year, information from a student’s FAFSA is used to determine how much federal aid they will be eligible to receive. The basic formula is listed below:

Cost of Attendance (COA) - Student Aid Index (SAI)= Financial Need

Additional information regarding need and non-need-based aid is available at https://www.studentaid.gov . A student can also contact MGA’s Office of Financial Aid for more information.

If a student’s financial situation has changed, or they are experiencing unusual circumstances that prevent them from providing parental information on their FAFSA, they are encouraged to contact the Office of Financial Aid for information on filing Special Circumstances SAI Appeal or an Unusual Circumstances Appeal.
