Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy

The Higher Education Act of 1965 mandates that institutions of higher education establish and apply standards of satisfactory academic progress for students who receive any title IV federal or state financial aid. It is each student’s responsibility to read and adhere to the SAP policy. The financial aid SAP policy should not be confused with Middle Georgia State University (MGA) academic policies for good standing or academic probation.

To maintain eligibility, a student must be compliant with all components of the SAP policy:

• Qualitative: Grade point average

• Quantitative: Pace of course completion

• Maximum timeframe: A period that is no longer than 150% of the published length of time of an education program.
