How to Apply for Financial Aid

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the primary application used by students to apply for financial aid. Unless otherwise indicated by the U.S. Department of Education, the FAFSA becomes available for the upcoming academic year on October 1. This application can be completed at https://studentaid.gov . The federal school code for MGA is 001581. The FAFSA is used to determine student eligibility for federal grants, institutional scholarships, work-study programs, student loans. The FAFSA must be completed each year to determine a student’s eligibility for federal student aid. 

 A student should also complete the Georgia Student Finance Application (GSFAPP) to apply for state financial aid programs such as Hope and Zell Miller Scholarships. Once completed, the GSFAPP is valid for up to 10 years from the date of completion. The application is available at https://www.gafutures.org

 The preferred application deadlines are as follows:

· Spring semester-October 1 
· Summer semester- March 1
