HIST 4220 History of Japan

This course covers the history of Japan from earliest times to present, with primary emphasis on its emergence as a world power since the late nineteenth century. Coverage includes changes in political institutions, economic policies, and sociocultural relationships, with particular attention to the impact of industrialization and the Meiji Restoration. 

Prerequisite: At least a C in HIST 1111, 1112 and 3000 (or honors equivalents).
