BIOL 1005 Perspectives on the Environment
This is an Institutional Priority course that develops key competencies in critical thinking and oral communication through an introduction to basic environmental principles and possible solutions to environmental problems. The course includes an online Critical Thinking and Oral Communication (CTOC) component. The course offers an opportunity for students to apply critical thinking skills to environmental issues and to gain experience in developing and presenting original arguments in oral forms. Topics will include discussions of how the environment is organized, problems associated with natural resources' availability and misuse, and practical strategies that could assure the sustainability of our planet. Students will learn how to evaluate critically various sources of information about the environment from several types of media.
