Program Overview
The DSIT prepares experienced information technology professionals for advanced practice, leadership, and applied research in information technology. The program is cohort-based and emphasizes applied research, IT leadership, management, and focused advanced topics.
Program Mission and Learning Outcomes
The program’s mission is to prepare graduates to solve complex IT problems through applied research and to lead in IT-related organizations.
Admission Requirements
Applicants should meet the general admissions requirements for graduate study and these program-specific requirements: (i) Video statement of purpose describing the applicant’s professional goals and commitment to completing degree requirements. (ii) Two recommendations from individuals familiar with the applicant’s academic and technical abilities. (iii) M.S. degree in Information Technology or a closely related discipline, such as Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or Computer Science, from an institutionally accredited institution. (iv) Graduate GPA of 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale. (v) Three to five years of relevant work experience in a leadership or management role that includes formal supervision. (vi) Current resume.
Program Format
The DSIT is a 54-credit-hour cohort program taught online except for brief residencies at the beginning and end of the program. Students ideally complete the program in two years, with two short sessions each semester, and begin as a summer cohort.

The Doctor of Science in Information Technology requires 21 hours of research courses. Students must obtain a 'B' or better in the following courses:
