HLSA 6300 Healthcare Law and Compliance
This graduate-level course offers a comprehensive examination of legal and compliance issues within the health care sector, addressing concerns from both consumer and provider viewpoints. Topics include maintaining the quality of care, including aspects of licensing and malpractice, and the organization of the health care system, focusing on professional relationships and emerging organizational structures. The course will also cover issues related to access to care and the legal obligations surrounding the provision of health services. Through a critical analysis of traditional common-law responses, statutory and regulatory reforms, and free market proposals, students will develop a nuanced understanding of the complex legal and compliance challenges faced by health care administrators.
